let every thing that has breathe PRAISE THE LORD!!!!!

We send you greetings in the mighty Name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We continue to bear witness of mighty and great deeds of God in the Ministry of Kampala Church of Christ. Through this Newsletter we seek to inform you of God’s interventions in the Kampala Ministry. Thank you all for your forever present prayers, love and support for the body of Christ in Kampala.

In the Month of September 2011, the umbrella of all the Churches of Christ in Uganda “The New Testament Churches of Christ” converged in Jinja for their Annual General meeting and fellowship. The Theme for the fellowship was based on the I AM series of Jesus’ identity from the Book of John. One of our Ministers, Isaac Sanyu was among the guest speakers. Isaac spoke from John 15 “I AM THE TRUE VINE AND YOU ARE THE BRANCHES.  It was a great week of fellowship of prayer, singing, sharing and testimonies of what God continues to do in our respective churches through out the country. Kampala will be hosting the next Annual meeting in September 2012.

Relatively, the New Testament Churches of Christ (NTCC) in Uganda were on 9/29/2011 inducted and now are members of the Evangelical Fellowship of Uganda (EFU). EFU is a fraternity of local churches in Uganda. It is a wider body of local churches that support each other in various ways to foster and spread the Word of God. EFU is also a conduit through which the voices of these churches can be locally heard as one body and listened to by the different interest groups at both local and international levels. Work to have the NTCC registered by EFU started off over five years back. We praise God that NTCC has finally been accepted and registered as a member of EFU. Already, the Kampala Church of Christ has benefitted from its collaboration with EFU by receiving gift donations for kids that we have helped distribute in several of our communities.

We give thanks to God for having enabled the Ministry in Kampala to seize the opportunity of the heavy rainfall that started off in the Month of August this year. The Kampala Ministry has embraced the rainy season by getting involved in gardening. We have planted beans, soya beans, maize corn, sweet potatoes and several other crops. The idea has birthed the Kampala Church of Christ Agriculture Ministry as a result. This has been made possible with the access and availability of land in Wakiso and Kira. Mr. Godffery. Mbazira, the minister of Life  Way Church of Christ in wakiso has been more than kind to let the Kampala Ministry use part of his land to plant food. We have also utilized the land in Kira to plant maize corn. The land in Kira was purchased and belongs to Dr. Ellen Little and Darla Bennette, both of whom are former missionaries in Kampala. We thought it wise to use their land productively during this season. Our plan and vision for the harvest is to feed the poor with food in our communities. God is good all the time.

We praise God for our first graduate in computer knowledge, Grace Amongin. On 8/28/2011 Grace graduated and was awarded a Certificate of the Kampala Church of Christ Computer Literacy Program.  One of the greatest problems in the country is the lack of employment opportunities. As a result we have a number of energetic and young youths that are without jobs. One of the many ways to help these youths is to equip them to compete in the labor market by offering them relevant skills and knowledge. This is the background against which the Kampala Church of Christ Community Computer Literacy Program came into being. We have had several students enrolled into the program. Sam Lubwama is a student of computer information systems at the University. He has devoted his time to help lead and manage this Ministry. We ask that you continue to pray for more resources in seeing this Ministry impact even more people in Kampala and in the communities where we continue to be established.

Sam, is blessing the Kampala Ministry even more by building up a website for the Kampala Ministry as well. He has been working on this project for several Months now. We are glad to mention that the website will be operational on October 30th 2011 at 4 pm local time. The Website will be an addition to our facebook page “Kampala Church of Christ”, the “Living streams flow” facebook page and our news publications blog “Living Rays”. We are currently looking into having a Twitter  and Youtube Accounts as well. We praise God for the blessings that we are enjoying through Sam.

We kindly ask you to prayerfully lift up one of our brothers in Christ. Joseph Bonyo is a young and very hard working man of God. He has come a long way to being who he is in Christ. Joseph serves in church. He currently leads our youth and singles Ministry.  A few years back his father passed away after a short illness.  It is believed that the cause of death was a combination of witchcraft and poisoning according to what we were told on a recent visit to Bonyo’s ancestral village in Budaka, Mbale district. After his father passed away, his family started being harassed by his fathers relatives and in-laws and being told to vacate the land on which his father had tried to give shelter to a family of ten children. On our recent visit to Bonyo’s village, we were able to meet and talk to his mother who is now single with such a huge burden of a big family. We are glad to mention that the whole family is now saved and they love Jesus.  However, Bobyo’s mother mentioned that she is constantly threatened to vacate the land. We were taken on a physical tour of the land and we physically saw a number of witchcraft charms left hanging on tress and on the ground. Fortunately, God has been gracious enough to provide this family with another piece of land on which they now plan to build their own family house. We kindly ask of you to pray and be used by God to see that shelter and peace is restored in this family. Plans are underway to establish a Church of Christ in this village as well, God is good!!!

We are also glad to report that work is still going on with the construction of a simple shelter for the Wakiso church plant, the Life Way Church of Christ Project. We are believing God to provide iron sheets and cement to start off with the structure. One our of Minister's, Seth Sengendo who is an artist by profession came up with an artistic impression of the Life Way Church of Christ Structure, God is good. We kindly request you all to lift this project in prayer as we continue to spread the love of Christ in Wakiso.
