God is good, All the time!!!

Greetings from Kampala Uganda. It has been a while since we last sent out an update on news from Kampala Church of Christ. As we get closer to the end of the year, it gets busier but all in the Name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for His honor and sake.

The Kampala church was blessed to have been visited by two amazing sisters in Christ from North Central Church of Christ in Indiana. Nancy Harbrone and Jana Treadway flew into the country on 11/16/2011 after a brief visit in Rwanda. They spent considerable time visiting with church members and having a perspective on other churches in the city. They left on 12/3/2011.  It was a blessing to take them to all of our outreach ministries and projects in the communities as well. Their visit was compounded by an on ground learning experience of the Kampala Ministry and its activities. Time allowed for them to learn from how the other established churches in the city have succeeded in church planting, projects and development. This gave them and us a better and wider perspective of Ministry. During their stay, Nancy helped teach about God being the master potter while Jana taught about health issues. They both taught in Kampala and elsewhere in the communities where our church plants are established. It was such a great and blessed visit from Nancy and Jana.

Over the years we have been struggling with training of  the worship team ministry. At a meeting of the Evangelical Fellowship of Uganda (EFU), we were introduced to a music teacher who has helped several churches in Kampala. Mr. Bosco Andama has helped start a Choir Practice and Music teaching ministry at the church premises. The worship team and other interested members meet every Thursday in the mornings and Saturday evenings to learn and practice music.

We give the honor to God and are glad to share the news that the Lifeway Child Support Program has been blessed to have its first three sponsors of the program. We are in the process of selecting the first three poor and needy beneficiaries in Wakiso. The three children will be enrolling for school in Primary one in January 2012. We give thanks and praises to God for having touched the heart of Amanda Morgan Stoops who is working tirelessly in raising awareness about the need for education for the wakiso children and community. We are prayerfully believing for God to allow it for a primary school to be established in Wakiso as well. This we believe will go a long way in impacting the community of Wakiso with the love of Christ for generations.
Relatively, the Christian Relief Fund (CRF) Project in Kampala has been offered some scholarships into the LivingStone International University Scholarship Program. The LivingStone International University is an undertaking that was started over five years back by the Mbale Church of Christ mission team in Eastern Uganda. CRF is a project that was started in Kampala in 1998 to help orphans in form of food, health, clothing and school fees. We have given the University some of the CRF University eligible children. We give praise to God for such a blessing as this that has come along at such a point as this when several of the Kampala CRF children are now University going age. God is good.

On 12/9/2011, we had a CRF Annual meeting at Kampala Church of Christ. Over eighty of the ninty children in the program attended. However, the meeting this year was different. The Theme for the meeting was targeted on the spiritual growth of the children. The material that was taught was from the Welcome To The Family Class (WTFC) lessons of the church. The WTFC lessons are designed to teach about Jesus Christ and living the Christian faith. The response from the children was amazing. We anticipate a greater harvest of souls through this event. The children used this opportunity to write to their sponsors as well.

On 12/11/2011, the Kampala Church of Christ held its Annual Celebration Sunday 2011. Every year, a day has always been set aside for the members and everyone else to come at the church premises to celebrate the birth of Christ and the end of the year. Food and drinks are served. Worship songs, skits and fellowship always highlight this day. In recent years this day has turned out to bringing together  members from our church plants of wakiso, wabigalo, kasangati and the areas around Kampala. We all share in song, testimonies, prayer, sharing and fellowship on this day. On 12/11/2011, we had over three hundred people that converged at the church premises. On this day, a moslem gentleman, Bashir from wakiso, was baptized into Christ together with four of his children. We praise God for such a way in winding up the year as we continue adding numbers into His Kingdome for God’s glory.

As 2012 is closing in, we anticipate an even greater year as we go about spreading the Word of God. Every other year the New Testament Churches of Christ (NTCC), a registration under which all the Churches of Christ in Uganda are registered, has an Annual meeting that brings together all the churches of Christ. This meeting keeps rotating amongst the major town centers of Mbale, Jinja, Fortportal, Kampala and Mbarara. We praise God because in 2012, Kampala will be the hosts. It is a big meeting that requires a lot of organizing and mobilizing.  We anticipate to have a good Theme for the meeting and a great speaker. We ask you all to pray for good planning and organizing on our part for the glory of God.

Prayer Requests
1.       Pray for the leadership of Kampala Church of Christ to make decisions that give God the glory.
2.       Pray for the completion of the Women of Grace registration process
3.       Pray for God to provide for the wakiso church plant to construct a worship house
4.       Pray for the Lifeway child support program and for its future plans for a primary school.
5.       Pray for God to provide more funds for the KCC ministry Van
6.       Pray for the planning of the NTCC annual meeting in Kampala next year

In Christ Jesus
Isaac Sanyu
